    Sutirtha-Ayhika wins bronze medal in Table Tennis: India has achieved another success in the Asian Games being played in China. The Indian pair of Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee have won the bronze medal in the doubles event in table tennis. They have become the first women’s pair to win a medal for India in the doubles event of the Asian Games.

    The Indian pair of Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee faced Cha Suyong and Pak Sugyong of North Korea Republic in the women’s doubles table tennis semi-finals at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday. Although both lost in a thrilling match, they still captured the bronze medal.

    Sutirtha and Ayhika made a positive start, winning the first game 11-7, but the North Korean pair fought hard and made a strong comeback. Thus, till the completion of 6 sets, both the teams had 3-3 points. However, the Indian pair trailed 11-2 in the deciding set and had to face defeat.

    China was defeated in the quarter finals

    En route to the semi-finals, the Indian pair defeated China’s Meng Chen and Yidi Wang in the quarter-finals to seal a medal for their country. The pair won the four-game contest 11-5, 11-5 to advance to the semi-finals of the event. , won by 5-11 and 11-9. The Chinese pair is the current world champion.
