Asian Games 2023, India Medal Tally: The Indian contingent has given a historic performance in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. This has been Team India’s best performance in 72 years from 1951 till now. This time India has won not only the maximum number of medals but also the maximum number of gold medals. Earlier, in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, India had performed best with 70 medals including 16 gold. But this time this figure has been left far behind and the Indian team has given a historic performance by completing the slogan of crossing 100. This time India won 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze medals. The last day of 7th October was a great day for India. On this day India won not one, not two, not three but six gold medals. Also, the total number of medals crossed 10 on the last day. This time Indian athletes performed best and shooters won the maximum number of gold medals. How much improvement from 2014 to 2023?
If we talk about India’s performance from the 17th Asian Games to the 19th Asian Games, the number of medals has almost doubled. In 2014, India had won 57 medals. But in 2023, 107 medals came. India’s previous best performance was in 2018 where it had won 70 medals. India won 11 gold medals in 2014 and 16 gold medals in 2018. This number will reach 28 in 2023. If we also talk about medal tally, India had finished at 8th place in 2014 and 2018. But in 2023, India remained at fourth position. Chinese Taipei also lagged far behind India this time.
