CM Shivraj on Saturday formally inaugurated the trial run of the first phase of the Metro Rail project costing Rs 7,500.80 crore. In such a situation, it is being said that this gift can prove to be very important in view of the assembly elections to be held in the state at the end of the year. The metro rail project is also considered important politically.
Traveling from tempo to metro
During this, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Indore has completed the journey from tempo to metro today. The beginning of experimental trial of Metro Rail in the city is a new transportation revolution. Shivraj Singh Chauhan also said that traveling by metro rail in the city will prove to be cheaper than traveling by two-wheeler and this modern means of public transport will bridge the gap between rich and poor people.
City’s metro project on hold!
He alleged that the previous Congress government led by Kamal Nath had put the city’s metro project on hold. Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the present Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is completing the work of this project on a war footing in record time. He said that commercial operation of Metro will be started in the city in the next five months. The Chief Minister said that metro rail will be expanded from Indore to Pithampur industrial area and religious city Ujjain.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan also announced that Indore and its surrounding areas will be declared a metropolitan authority so that this area can develop at a fast pace. Officials said that a trial run of the three-coach metro rail was conducted on the 5.9 km top priority corridor between Gandhi Nagar station of the city and station number three of the super corridor. During this time the Chief Minister also rode the Metro Rail.
Total cost Rs 7,500.80 crore
Officials also said that the foundation stone of the first phase of the metro rail project in the city with a total cost of Rs 7,500.80 crore was laid on September 14, 2019. Under this, about 31.50 km long metro rail corridor is to be built in the city. People are expected to benefit from this.
