Chhattisgarh election, Amit Shah: The Election Commission has announced the date of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. Voting is to be held in two phases in the state on November 7 and 17. Congress on Monday accused Home Minister Amit Shah of making inflammatory statements in an election rally in Chhattisgarh. Besides, the Election Commission has also been demanded to take action against Amit Shah.
Congress Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also alleged that after BJP’s defeat in Chhattisgarh seems certain, Amit Shah now wants to resort to communalism. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that if the Congress comes back to power in Chhattisgarh after the assembly elections next month, it will continue the politics of ‘appeasement’ and ‘vote bank’.
Addressing a rally in Rajnandgaon city, Amit Shah mentioned the murder case of a youth named Bhuvaneshwar Sahu. Sahu was murdered by some people from another community in April this year. BJP has given ticket to Bhuvaneshwar Sahu’s father Ishwar Sahu in this assembly elections.
Pointing towards Ishwar Sahu, who was present on the stage during the election rally, Shah said that Bhuvneshwar Sahu was murdered for vote bank and appeasement. He said, ‘We will punish the murderer of Bhuvaneshwar Sahu. We have given the ticket to his father.
Jairam Ramesh posted on ‘X’ regarding this statement of the Home Minister, ‘Home Minister of the country Amit Shah has given a very provocative statement in Chhattisgarh.’ According to Ramesh, the Home Minister directly said in his election rally regarding a murder case that ‘Bhupesh Baghel government, for appeasement and vote bank politics, lynched Chhattisgarh’s son Bhuvneshwar Sahu. Bharatiya Janata Party has decided that we will bring the murderers of Bhuvaneshwar Sahu to justice and as a symbol of this, he has fielded his father Ishwar Sahu.
The Congress leader alleged, ‘This statement of Amit Shah is not only objectionable but its only purpose is to incite communal violence in the peaceful state of Chhattisgarh. The Home Minister has given this statement to incite frenzy with the intention of electoral gains. He claimed, ‘What the Home Minister has said is absolutely false. The reality is that in this case of violence and counter-violence, the government had taken prompt action and arrested the accused and sent them to jail. But Amit Shah, frustrated by his clearly visible defeat in Chhattisgarh, now wants to take the help of communalism.
Jairam Ramesh said, ‘Now the first responsibility in this matter under the code of conduct lies directly with the Election Commission. He should take cognizance of this inflammatory statement and take appropriate action by registering a case against Amit Shah. If this does not happen, there is a possibility that BJP will not desist from spreading communalism in its election campaign in Chhattisgarh in future also.
