Kolar (Karnataka):
A Congress leader was allegedly murdered with a sharp weapon by a group of six people near Srinivaspura in the state’s Kolar district on Monday. Police sources gave this information. According to the police, the incident took place when former Kolar District Panchayat President Srinivas had gone to inspect an under-construction bar.
Police sources said Srinivas (62) was taken to a private hospital, where he died. The reason for the murder could not be immediately known.
Srinivas was considered close to Home Minister G Parameshwara and former Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar. Both Parameshwara and Kumar visited the hospital and met Srinivas’s family.
Police have registered the case and several teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
