The bad memories of the COVID-19 pandemic have not faded yet. This epidemic has made crores of people its victims all over the world and millions of lives have been lost. Now researchers have found that this virus is also making deer sick. Scientists doing research on COVID-19 in America say that COVID-19 is being found in the white-tailed deer here and they have got it from humans only. White-tailed deer are becoming victims of Corona in Ohio, America. Ohio State University has discovered it. After humans, now the COVID-19 virus has started hunting animals. Here the danger also increases that if the virus is still spreading its infection through animals, then it can return to humans again. And the greater danger is that if it returns again, it will return with many changes, because it mutates rapidly and the new variant can prove to be more dangerous than before. According to the study published in Nature Communications, scientists took samples from 1522 deer roaming in Ohio. This was done between November 2021 and March 2022. Scientists found that corona virus was present in more than 10% of these samples. Most of these infections they got from humans. Professor Andrew Bowman, associated with the study, says that this transmission is beyond his understanding. A report from Time says that deer are not infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as humans are. Professor Bowman’s analysis shows that deer can be infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and this infection can last for 6 to 9 months. Here the fear arises that the virus finds a home to live for 6 or 9 months, and here it will replicate, mutate and then spread among humans again. This discovery has proved the thinking or knowledge about cross-infection between humans and animals to be weak. Therefore, scientists have still said to be cautious about Covid-19.
