    Emergency warning issued due to flood in New York, airport and roads filled with water

    The Governor said that the situation will remain to be seen for the next 20 hours. According to the official, traffic has come to a standstill due to storm and rain. Cars started sinking in water on FDR Drive, the main road in the eastern part of Manhattan. Some drivers left their vehicles and went away. A woman named Priscilla Fontelio said she was trapped in her car.

    The Governor further said that he had never seen anything like this in his life. In the photos and videos posted on social media, water is visible in the subway station and basement. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates subways and passenger rail lines, has called on people not to leave their homes. Due to flooding of the refueling area at LaGuardia Airport, flight operations were halted for some time and flights were delayed. One of its three terminals has been closed due to floods.

    Warning being issued to citizens

    New York City leaders are warning residents about widespread flooding as heavy rainfall continues to fall in the area. Due to which significant disruptions are being caused in transportation and daily life. The New York City Department of Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory for everyone Friday and Saturday morning, urging caution and preparation. NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Jack Iscol warned that all New Yorkers need to take precautions.

    Advice on using public transport

    Heavy rain expected on Saturday also

    Heavy rain and flooding is expected to continue through Saturday morning, resulting in a flood watch for the entire tri-state area. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected, with some areas expecting up to 5-8 inches of rain before the storm subsides. Due to saturated soil from previous rains, severe flooding and flash flood conditions are likely. However, the city’s response teams are ready to deal with any problem. Residents are being urged to take necessary precautions especially during the morning commute.

    The MTA has suspended several subway lines, and service disruptions are possible in flood-affected areas. Residents are being advised to stay updated through channels such as Notify NYC and Twitter (@NotifyNYC) for emergency information and updates. Despite the challenges, the sky is expected to be clear and the rain will stop by Saturday morning.
