A fierce encounter took place this morning between security forces and Naxalites in Naxal-affected Dantewada district of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh. Soldiers have killed two women Naxalites in the encounter. Search operation is going on in the area.
Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P. said that information was received about the presence of big Naxalite leaders in the forests of Nahari, Chhote Hidma and Dunginpara located in Aranpur police station area of Dantewada district. After receiving the information, a joint team of DRG and Bastar fighters was sent to the spot for searching. During the searching today, the security forces reached Nahari forest. After this the soldiers started cordoning off the area. During this time the Naxalites caught sight of the soldiers. After this the Naxalites started firing indiscriminately on the soldiers. Seeing the attack taking place, the soldiers also took charge and retaliated. In this encounter, soldiers killed two women Naxalites.
The police officer said that during this search operation, bodies of two female Naxalites along with one INSAS and one 12 bore rifle were recovered from the spot. Security forces are conducting search operations in the area. Many other Naxalites have fled from the spot. Women Naxalites are being identified.
Meanwhile, a CRPF jawan Surendra Singh Tomar was injured in an IED blast by Naxalites on Aranpur Jagargunda road in Dantewada, whose treatment is going on in Dantewada hospital.
