ICC ODI Rankings Team India: In the fifth match of Super 4 played at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Pakistan had to face defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in a thrilling match. With this defeat, Babar Azam’s team’s dream of playing the Asia Cup final was not only shattered but they also suffered a big loss in the ICC rankings.
Pakistan, which started its Asia Cup journey as the No. 1 ODI team, had a disappointing performance in the tournament. The team first lost its number 1 crown and now it has slipped from number 2 to number 3. Pakistan, which was on top in the ICC ODI team rankings, has now fallen two places to third place with 3102 points and 115 ratings.
Indian team reached number 2
Australia is at number 1 with 118 ratings and 3061 points. Pakistan’s defeat against Sri Lanka has also helped India reach second place in the rankings. The Rohit Sharma-led team has earned a total of 4516 points and 116 ratings which is one more than their arch-rivals.
India has a chance to become number 1
The Indian team, which reached number 2 after the defeat of Pakistan, has a chance to wear the number 1 crown till the end of the Asia Cup. In fact, India is only 2 ratings behind Australia at the top. In such a situation, if it wins the Super 4 match and the final match against Bangladesh, then it will become number 1. However, just India winning will not suffice. The team will have to hope that Australia also loses both its matches in the series being played against South Africa.
