WhatsApp keeps adding new features to the instant messaging platform to improve the user experience. Recent new features include screen-sharing, which is currently being tested on Android devices. The feature allows users to share their smartphone screen with others during a video call, making it easier to showcase content or get help from another user. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the users who have till now installed the latest beta version of WhatsApp (2.23.11.19) in their device. The screen-sharing feature for them is already available on Google Play Store. During a video call, a new icon appears at the bottom of the screen that allows users to initiate screen sharing. By clicking this icon, a pop-up menu allows users to perform screen sharing, letting them know that the content of their screen will be visible to others on the call. Users have complete control over this feature and can easily stop sharing whenever they want by clicking on the “Stop Sharing” button. Let us tell you that this new feature is based on the live sharing feature of Google Meet which was introduced a few years ago and Similar to Apple’s SharePlay feature that is available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices. The screen-sharing feature of WhatsApp is going to prove beneficial for those users who need help or guidance with their smartphones, including elderly users or children etc. WhatsApp is continuously increasing the range of features on its platform which attract users more.
