Speaking to reporters earlier, Sirsa called upon the governments of both India and Pakistan to streamline the passport verification process to make it easier for pilgrims visiting Kartarpur Sahib.

Passport verification process should be made simpler

He said, “This corridor was an impossible task which was made possible by the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev… PM Modi made it possible so we request the Government of India and the Government of Pakistan to restrict the visit to Kartarpur Sahib to passport checking.” The context should be further simplified.”

The Kartarpur Corridor is a 4.7 km long visa-free corridor that connects Dera Baba Nanak Sahib in India to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan. The corridor was inaugurated in 2019 to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. This corridor allows Sikh pilgrims from India to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism.

The opening of the Kartarpur Corridor is important for Sikh pilgrims. He had long wanted to start a system to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib without going through the lengthy and complicated visa process.
