Speaking to the media in the capital Aizawl during his visit to poll-bound Mizoram to campaign for party candidates, Rahul Gandhi said the opposition alliance is based on its values, constitutional framework and the right of people to express themselves and live in harmony, irrespective of religion or culture. Targeting BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Rahul Gandhi said that their vision for our country is different from ours. RSS believes that India should be ruled by a single ideology and organization, which we are opposing. We believe in decentralization whereas BJP believes that all decisions should be taken in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi accused BJP of trying to capture the entire institutional structure of the country. He said that Congress has helped in establishing the foundation of the country and this old party has a history of protecting that foundation.
Rahul said that various states of the North-East are facing attacks from BJP and RSS, this is a threat to the foundation of your religious beliefs. Let us tell you, voting for the forty-member Mizoram Assembly is to be held on November 7 and counting of votes will be done on December 3.
