The eighth match of the World Cup was played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Pakistan won the match by defeating Sri Lanka. Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan played an unbeaten inning of 131 runs. Rizwan hit eight fours and three sixes in his innings. Young Abdullah Shafiq, who played with him on the pitch, scored his first ODI century. Due to which Pakistan made the record of achieving the biggest target in the World Cup by scoring 345 runs for 4 wickets. After the victory, Mohammad Rizwan gave a big statement. He dedicated his victory to the people of Gaza.

Pakistan made a new run-chase record
Apart from Rizwan, young Abdullah Shafiq scored his first ODI century. He played an inning of 113 runs. In his innings he hit 10 fours and three sixes. Both the batsmen together helped Pakistan register its biggest win against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. Pakistan team created history by achieving a world-record target of 345 runs. Rizwan along with Shafiq made a match-winning partnership of 176 runs for the third wicket, which helped Pakistan win in 48.2 overs. This was the most successful run-chase in the history of the World Cup. Earlier, Ireland held the record for the highest run chase in an ODI World Cup, when they successfully chased 329 runs against England during the 2011 World Cup in India.
Rizwan also performed well against Netherlands
The second match of the World Cup and the first match of Pakistan team was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. In the match, Rizwan played an innings of 68 runs in 75 balls, which included eight fours. Mohammad Rizwan appeared in form in both the matches. While he scored a half-century in the first match, he played a century in the second match.
Pakistan’s next match with India
Pakistan has been performing well since the beginning of the World Cup campaign. Pakistani team will play against India on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India has won its first match against Australia and on Wednesday, India is playing its second match with Afghanistan. It remains to be seen whether Rizwan’s bat will also speak against India or whether Rizwan will fall prey to India’s spin bowlers.
