Olympic silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya made his runway debut on the second day of Lakme Vogue Week. The 23-year-old freestyle wrestler turned showstopper for dressmaker Mohammed Mazhar.
Dahiya donned a monochrome ensemble from the designer’s Autumn Winter 2021-22 assortment ‘Meri Pyaari Khaat’. The gathering is a tribute to cot weavers. “Echoing a touch of drama on a monochromatic canvas, @mohammed.mazhar.official assortment at FDCI x Lakme Vogue Week is an untold story of cot weavers. With this, he dives deep into his childhood recollections and weaves a clothes line encompassing boxy and flowy silhouettes made with materials utilizing the cot weaving approach & hand embroideries,” Lakme Vogue Week wrote on Instagram.
Dahiya teamed a patchwork kurta and pyajama with a blazer.
The look was accessorised with a metallic ring necklace, some bracelets on each palms and rings. The look was rounded off with a pair of embellished juttis.
The wrestling champion stated in a press release, “I’m very completely satisfied to be part of FDCI x Lakme Vogue Week. Dressing up in designer outfits and strolling the ramp was as thrilling as wrestling. Mohammed Mazhar is a gifted designer who took inspiration from ‘khaat’ (cot) to create an incredible outfit for me to look nice,” as quoted by news18.com.
Dahiya appeared fairly dapper within the ensemble. Do you agree?
