Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday made a veiled attack on Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan with United States President Donald Trump in the audience at the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event in Houston.
Without naming Pakistan, PM Narendra Modi said that the move to scrap provisions under Article 370 bothered only those who “cannot even take care of their own country”.
“Some people have a problem with the abrogation of Article 370, these are the same people who cannot govern their own country,” PM Narendra Modi said.
PM Modi said that the same people who are bothered by the Indian government’s decision to scrap the provisions under Article 370 are the same ones who “shield terrorism and nurture it”.
“The whole world knows them very well. Their identity is in the sponsorship of terror and the world knows it,” PM Narendra Modi said.
Speaking of the Indian government’s decision to scrap the provisions under Article 370 that gave Jammu and Kashmir a special status, PM Modi said that the Article 370 had deprived people of J&K and Ladakh of development and progress
“The J&K people were deprived of the rights that have been granted to the rest of the country. Terror and separatist elements were misusing the situation and Article 370 and India purged it. Now, the people in J&K have got equal rights,” PM Narendra Modi said.
Article 370 had deprived people in J&K of progress, development, PM Modi said, adding, “We have said goodbye to it”.
