Since India’s daughter Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the gold match due to 100 grams more weight, it was a big challenge for Aman and Indian coaches Jagmander Singh and Virender Dahiya to reduce the weight. Coach Virender Dahiya himself has admitted that it was like a mission, because after what happened with Vinesh Phogat, we were not in a position to bear another big blow.
The night before the match, i.e. on 9th August, the match was to be held during the day. Aman stayed up all night. He worked very hard. The coach also put in his best efforts. No one even slept. The result was that in just 10 hours, Aman lost 4.6 kg of weight. After this, he entered the ring and won silver and became famous.
How did Aman succeed in losing 4.6 kgs? What did he do first?
The night before the bronze medal match was tough for Aman. There was a big challenge ahead. Time was short. So Aman started working hard without wasting any time. Aman had a one and a half hour mat session at night. In this, the coach made him stand and wrestle and after that he was given a hot water bath for an hour.
ran at 12:30 at night
It was 12:30 at night. Now it was time to run on the treadmill in the gym. Aman ran for an hour without stopping. He lost weight by sweating. After running on the treadmill, Aman got a 30-minute break. Then he got up and took 5 sessions of sauna bath of 5 minutes each. This also helped in losing weight.
The mission was still incomplete, because after the last session Aman’s weight was 900 grams more, so he was given a massage again. The coach asked him to do light jogging. After this, there were 5 running sessions of 15 minutes each. After this, when the weight was checked, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
By 4:30 in the morning, Aman’s weight had reached 56.9 kg, which was 100 grams less than 57 kg. So the coach and Aman’s face lit up. In between the sessions, Aman was given lukewarm water with lemon and honey and a little coffee to drink, this way Aman’s sleepiness went away and he remained refreshed.
The coach said- no one could sleep, the mission was such
Coach Ravi Dahiya has revealed that he watched wrestling videos all night. Checked Aman’s weight every hour. This was such a mission that no one could sleep. Then during the day, Aman wrestled keeping in mind everyone’s hard work and returned winning silver. Coach Ravi Dahiya says that ‘weight loss is routine for us, but there was a lot of stress due to what happened with Vinesh, because we could not miss another medal.
