Due to a sudden family matter, Gautam Gambhir has flown back to India, temporarily leaving his coaching duties. The BCCI has appointed VVS Laxman as the temporary head coach to ensure the team’s training continues smoothly. Laxman, already present in England as the head of the Centre of Excellence and the coach of the Indian Under-19 team, is well-positioned to guide the team. The practice match against Gill and India A is currently under his supervision. This is not the first time Laxman has taken on the role, making him a reliable choice for the BCCI during this period. Gambhir’s return is anticipated before the first Test match against England on June 20th.
