Delhi’s sports landscape received a major lift with Shikhar Dhawan, the ex-Indian cricket stalwart, stepping in as brand ambassador for the Delhi Sports Mahakumbh. The reveal happened after Dhawan’s Tuesday rendezvous with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Secretariat.
Sports Minister Ashish Sood, while presenting Dhawan to reporters, exuded optimism. ‘Delighted to introduce the iconic Delhi-connected cricketer Shikhar Dhawan here today.’ He outlined the government’s youth-centric sports agenda under Gupta.
‘We’re dedicated to elevating sports for Delhi’s young brigade,’ Sood affirmed. Dhawan’s involvement promises to energize the February 13 opener, with him on hand to mentor and motivate participants, enhancing training and prospects.
The ambassador’s star appeal will lend authenticity and reach, drawing in more youth to self-driven sporting pursuits.
Dhawan reciprocated the sentiment: ‘Overwhelmed by this recognition; thanks to the Delhi administration and sports body. Mahakumbh is a brilliant move for talent development in our vibrant city.’
From his athlete’s lens, he stressed opportunity’s role. ‘My Da One Sports venture commits to dream-fulfillment for the young. Rooted in Delhi’s proud sports tradition, this tie-up will instill self-belief, propelling us towards making Delhi India’s sports epicenter.’
Anticipation is high for the Mahakumbh, where Dhawan’s guidance could spark a youth sports revolution in the capital.
