The captain of the West Delhi Lions, Nitish Rana, has spoken out regarding the incident involving Digvesh Rathi during the DPL 2025 Eliminator match. The match saw the West Delhi Lions facing off against the South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The initial tension began when Rathi withdrew from his bowling run-up, which Rana subsequently replicated. The situation further intensified after Rana hit a six, which seemed to anger Rathi, leading to a heated exchange. Rana responded directly to Rathi’s comments, and the ensuing confrontation required intervention from other players. Rana explained that he respects the game of cricket but won’t back down when confronted. He highlighted that he wouldn’t initiate conflict but would respond if provoked. Rana also added that he has never initiated any fight but always responds when someone provokes him. Rana’s upbringing, rooted in standing up for oneself, shapes his approach to such situations. Both players were penalized for their conduct, with Digvesh Rathi fined 80% of his match fees, and Nitish Rana received a 50% fine.
