He told in the post that the first Test match of the 2-Test series against West Indies this summer will be played at Lord’s, this match will be the last match of his career.

Anderson wrote, “It was great to represent England for 20 years. I played the game I love since childhood. I will miss the feeling of taking the field for England. But I know this is the right time to retire and give a chance to others, so that they too can live their dreams the way I lived.”

According to media reports, England’s Test team coach Brendon McCullum had recently talked to Anderson and told that he is not seeing Anderson in the team considering the Ashes series 2025. For this, McCullum had come to England from New Zealand and he had clearly told Anderson that he was no longer going to be a part of the future of the team.

Anderson’s cricket career

England’s most successful bowler Anderson played his first Test match in the year 2003. His career has lasted for almost 20 years. He has taken the most wickets in Tests for England. Till now he has played 187 Test matches for England and has taken 700 wickets in his name. He is third in the list of bowlers taking the most wickets in Tests. He is the first fast bowler to take 700 wickets in international cricket.
