In a display of sheer batting brilliance, Australia has clinched a spot in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-finals, courtesy of a commanding 10-wicket triumph against Bangladesh. The dynamic opening duo of Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield made light work of the 199-run target, guiding their team to victory with over half the overs remaining.
Captain Alyssa Healy led the charge with an explosive unbeaten 113, her second century of the tournament, featuring 20 boundaries. Her partner, Phoebe Litchfield, provided elegant company with a superb unbeaten 84. Their seamless partnership dismantled the Bangladesh bowling attack, showcasing Australia’s batting depth and composure under pressure.
Bangladesh’s innings had earlier stalled at 198/9, with Sobhana Mostary emerging as the standout performer. Her resilient, unbeaten 66 was instrumental in pushing the total past the 190-run mark. Earlier, Rubya Haider offered stability with a 44, but the Australian bowlers, particularly their spinners, maintained tight control throughout.
Alana King and Georgia Wareham proved economical and effective, each claiming two crucial wickets. Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland also joined the wicket-takers, sharing four wickets between them. Megan Schutt provided an early breakthrough, setting the tone for Australia’s clinical bowling performance.
Australia’s victory places them atop the league standings, while Bangladesh remains in sixth place. The focus now shifts to upcoming matches against England and Sri Lanka for the two teams.
