Among the players who performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2024, three star cricketers have been nominated by the ICC for the Player of the Month award. This list also includes the names of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Afghanistan’s opening wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Gurbaz is the same batsman who scored the most runs for Afghanistan this season, due to which his team reached the semi-finals.

Rohit’s performance in T20 World Cup (ICC Player of the Month for June 2024)

The Indian team won an ICC trophy after 11 years under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma also had a great performance as a player. He was the second highest run scorer in the tournament. Rohit scored 257 runs at an impressive average of 36.71. During this, his strike rate was 156.7. In this World Cup, he played a memorable innings of 92 runs in 41 balls against Australia in India’s last Super-8 match and 57 runs in 39 balls against England in the semi-finals and played an important role in the victory of the Indian team.

Jaspreet became the reliable bowler of the team

Whenever Indian captain Rohit Sharma needed wickets, he turned to Bumrah. This right-handed fast bowler did not disappoint the disappointed captain and gave the Indian team breakthroughs from time to time. Be it the group match against arch-rival Pakistan in New York or the final match against South Africa, Bumrah fully justified the captain’s trust. Bumrah took 15 wickets in his 8 matches played in the World Cup with an impressive average of 8.26 and an economical economy of 4.17. For this performance, he was also selected for the Player of the Tournament.

Gurbaj took over the command of the team

Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s bat roared throughout the World Cup. He played an important role for his team. In the T20 World Cup, Gurbaz’s bat produced 281 runs at an average of 35.12 and a strike rate of 124.33. He was the highest run-scorer in the entire World Cup. Along with this, this was the first time that an Afghanistan batsman has secured the top position in the World Cup. Gurbaz and his partner Ibrahim Zadran together gave a solid start to the Afghanistan team. Thanks to Gurbaz’s brilliant innings of 80 runs against New Zealand and 60 runs against Australia, the Afghanistan team registered a historic victory.
