The BCCI has commented on the ‘no-handshake’ incident that occurred after the India versus Pakistan match in the Asia Cup, sparking a potential disciplinary review. The Indian team’s decision to bypass the traditional handshake, with players like Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube going directly to the changing room while the Pakistani team awaited, has drawn attention. Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, and his squad were left in an awkward position. This lack of customary interaction was also noted during the coin toss. The ACC is reportedly examining the footage of the incident to assess possible disciplinary actions against India. A senior BCCI official clarified that the act of shaking hands is a goodwill gesture rather than a regulation. Consequently, the Indian team might not be penalized. The official highlighted the absence of a specific rule mandating handshakes and implied that, given the history of tension, the Indian team is not bound to participate in the gesture.
