Sparking fresh controversy, retired Pakistan bowler Mohammad Aamir has predicted doom for India in the 2026 T20 World Cup, ruling out a semifinal berth. Speaking on television, he cited batting inconsistencies as the primary reason.
‘It’s not that India lacks quality, but their batting hasn’t impressed me,’ Aamir opined, tipping South Africa and West Indies as safer semifinal bets. ‘Agree or trash my take—I’m not sugarcoating it,’ he remarked bluntly.
Aamir hoped for an Indian turnaround to validate his error. Contrasting this, India’s current tournament form is impeccable: four group wins propelled them atop the standings into Super 8.
Super 8 Group 1 showdowns await: South Africa (Feb 22), Zimbabwe (Feb 26), West Indies (March 1). These group leaders promise fierce competition.
Hosting as 2024 winners, India aims to retain the crown amid high stakes. Aamir’s penchant for controversy persists post his Abhishek Sharma ‘slogger’ troll that went viral.
