Former Indian Test cricketer Dilip Doshi has passed away in London at the age of 77 after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday. The BCCI confirmed the news, expressing their sorrow at the loss of the veteran spinner. Doshi played for India in 33 Test matches and 15 ODIs between 1979 and 1983, showcasing his bowling prowess with 114 Test wickets and 22 ODI wickets. His debut against Australia in Chennai was remarkable; he took 6 wickets in the first innings. He is one of only nine Indian cricketers to achieve a five-wicket haul on their Test debut. Beyond international cricket, Doshi made significant contributions to domestic cricket representing Saurashtra and Bengal, and also played county cricket in England. His overall career saw him take 898 first-class wickets. Doshi’s impact on Indian cricket is widely celebrated, and his passing marks an end of an era.
