The state of Punjab is currently grappling with the repercussions of heavy rains and subsequent flooding, causing substantial damage across multiple areas. The inundation has led to rivers swelling and a disruption of everyday activities. With a critical red alert in place for a significant portion of the districts, authorities are actively engaged in rescue and relief efforts to mitigate further harm. Amidst these challenging circumstances, India’s Test captain, Shubman Gill, conveyed his sentiments on social media, offering his support. “Heartbroken to see my Punjab devastated by floods. Punjab will always be stronger than any adversity, and we’ll rise up from this. My prayers are with all affected families. Standing strong with my people,” Gill posted on X. Prime Minister Modi has also reached out to Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, to assess the worsening conditions, promising all necessary aid. The communities, alongside state agencies, are working together to protect vulnerable populations as the floods continue to escalate.
