The Para World Championships 2025 in New Delhi witnessed exceptional performances by Indian athletes. Shailesh Kumar clinched a gold medal in the Men’s T42/64 High Jump, setting a new championship record with a jump of 1.91m. Varun Bhati secured a bronze medal in the same event. In the Women’s 400m T20 Final, Deepthi Jeevanji claimed a silver medal, achieving a season-best time of 55.16 seconds. Kumar’s record-breaking jump of 1.91m also surpassed the Asian record. Deepthi Jeevanji’s qualification for the finals was a significant moment for the Indian team, as she previously secured first place in her heat. The championships, scheduled from September 27 to October 5 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will feature over 2,200 para-athletes from 104 countries. With 186 medal events, it represents the largest Para-Athletics competition in Indian history and a crucial qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics.
