Fans are eagerly waiting for IPL 2025. Before this, a news has come out which has shocked everyone. This news has come from the camp of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), in which it is being claimed that Kavya Maran’s team is going to spend a huge amount on one of its players.

According to reports, SRH is planning to retain Heinrich Klaasen for Rs 23 crore. 3 names have been finalized in the retention list, while 2 are under consideration. That means there is a preparation to retain a total of 5 players. However, it has not been officially announced yet.

If SRH spends Rs 23 crore on Klaasen, he will become the second most expensive player in the history of this league and will break the record of its own captain Pat Cummins.

Heinrich Klaasen had a brilliant performance in IPL 2024, scoring 479 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 171.07. Keeping in mind this excellent performance of Klaasen, SRH has decided to retain him for Rs 23 crore, which will be a big step in the history of IPL.

Pat Cummins and Abhishek Sharma will also be retained

According to reports, Pat Cummins, who was the captain of SRH, will be retained for Rs 18 crore. Under the captaincy of Cummins, the team reached the final last season, where it had to face defeat at the hands of KKR. Apart from this, Abhishek Sharma will be retained for Rs 14 crore. Abhishek scored 484 runs last season at a strike rate of 204.21 and is one of the leading batsmen of the team.

Names of Travis Head and Nitish Kumar also included

Reports also claim that SRH is planning to retain Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Head and Reddy played important roles for SRH last season also.

When will the retention list be released?

The last date of retention has been fixed by BCCI on 31st October. Before the mega auction for IPL 2025, teams can retain a maximum of 6 players. SRH’s retention list is considered to be almost ready, although no official announcement has been made by the team yet.

Purse of Rs 120 crore, also know the retention slab

A purse of Rs 120 crore has been fixed for each team for IPL 2025. Retention slabs have also been fixed under this purse.

Any team will have to spend Rs 18 crore, Rs 14 crore, and Rs 11 crore for the first three capped retentions, then Rs 18 crore and Rs 14 crore will have to be spent on the next two i.e. 4th and 5th retentions. A maximum of Rs 4 crore will have to be spent on uncapped Indian players.
