At a landmark sports journalism conclave in New Delhi, Minister Raksha Khadse ignited discussions on diversifying India’s sports narrative. Organized by DSJA, the SJFI Convention 2026—after 23 years—commenced with her inspiring address, portraying sports journalism as the storyteller of victories and icons.
Khadse shared insights on X, noting the presence of luminaries like Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao and SAI head Sarju Chakravarty. She advocated prioritizing non-cricket sports, government programs, sports tourism, and careers in innovative areas like sports science to unearth grassroots potential.
Emphasizing media’s role in democracy and India’s international stature, Khadse tackled gender imbalances head-on, calling for more women journalists. She expressed profound gratitude to the fraternity for their pivotal contributions to a stronger sports ecosystem nationwide.
The inauguration featured traditional diya lighting and mutual recognitions: Tripathi honoring Khadse, Hussain saluting Rao, and Khadse appreciating SJFI and state leaders.
The session’s thrill came from revealing the JK Bose T20 Cricket and AC Bali Table Tennis trophies, alongside the tournament draw—South vs East, West vs North—signaling the start of dynamic on-field action at the convention.
