Paris Paralympics 2024: Those who have life in their dreams can reach their destination, wings are of no use, it is courage that makes one fly. This couplet has been portrayed by Indian athlete Sundar Singh Gurjar, who won the bronze medal in the F46 category of javelin throw competition at the ongoing Paris Paralympics in Paris.
Sundar Singh Gurjar, a resident of Karauli, Rajasthan, lost his left hand in an accident in 2016. This incident broke Sundar from within. During this time, he even thought of ending his life. But, para sports showed him a new way to live. Sundar also did not give up and vowed that he would not return home until he did something big. After this, he returned to his village after winning the gold medal in the Para World Athletics Championship for the first time.
A world record is registered in Sundar’s name
Let us tell you that in 2016, Sundar Gurjar started his sport with javelin throw and since then he has won many medals in this sport. He won the first gold medal in the World Para Athletics Championship. In 2018, Sundar Gurjar won a silver and a bronze medal in the Asian Games. He also won a gold medal in the 2019 World Para Athletics Championship. Then in 2021, he won a bronze medal in the China Para Asian Games and last year he created a world record by throwing 68.60 meters in the Asian Para Games and won the gold medal. Apart from this, he has also won bronze in Tokyo 2020 with an effort of 64.01 meters.
