The Cycling League of India (CLI) stepped into the spotlight as Minister Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled its official logo in New Delhi. This franchise-driven road cycling league, the first of its kind globally, promises to elevate the sport to new heights in India.
Mandaviya called it ‘a game-changer for Indian sports,’ elaborating that it goes beyond races to foster a professional environment for talent development. Perfectly synced with visions of a healthier nation, it’s bound to garner international acclaim.
The league capitalizes on surging popularity from marquee events like Pune’s Grand Tour, Ahmedabad leagues, and regular Sunday on Cycle gatherings, inspiring youth participation and professional pathways.
With eight franchises, each rostered with ten riders—two internationals for expertise and two juniors for succession planning—the setup ensures competitive depth and sustainability.
Spanning three phases to a thrilling finale, races will include criteriums, team time trials, and mass starts, blending tactics and speed for maximum viewer engagement. Amid cycling’s renaissance in India, CLI is primed to lead the charge.
