Raipur. The final match was played today on the last day of the 31st National Junior Fencing Championship 2023-2024 going on in the capital. In the men’s category of Foil Team Championship, Manipur won 45-32 in the final played between Manipur and Haryana. Rajasthan and Gujarat divided the bronze medal among themselves. Whereas in the women’s category, Haryana won the junior fencing title with 28 points.
In the AP Event Team Championship, the final match in the women’s category was played between Maharashtra and Karnataka, which Maharashtra won 45-34 and won the gold medal. Whereas, the bronze medal went to Chandigarh and Haryana. The women’s team championship match was played between Haryana and Maharashtra in the saber event, which Haryana won 45-30 and won the gold medal. The bronze medal was divided between Manipur and Kerala.
Sports Minister Tank Ram Verma was the chief guest of the closing and prize distribution ceremony. The program was presided over by MLA Khushwant Saheb (Guru), in the presence of special guests Dr. Varnika Sharma and Razia Khan. During this, Sports Minister Verma asked the players to play for honor and glory. He told the winning players that company plays an important role in success and determination ensures success. Arang MLA Khushwant Saheb stressed on the players to focus on studies along with sports.
In the men’s category, the overall title went to Manipur. At the same time, Haryana’s team stood at second place and Maharashtra’s team stood at third place. In the women’s category, the overall title went to Haryana, while the second place went to Maharashtra team and the third place went to Tamil Nadu.
The chief judge of the competition was Sagar Suresh Lagoo (Kerala). The nominated person moderated the stage. During this, Chhattisgarh State Fencing Association General Secretary Bashir Ahmed Khan, Chhattisgarh Fencing Association Vice President Ajit Singh Patel, Kamal Ruparela, Balodabazar Fencing Association Secretary Amit Tiwari, Ram Pratap Gupta, Nikhil Jambhulkar, Johnson Solomon, Mohnish Verma, Anamika Verma and Kishore were present.
