Paris Paralympics: India has won its third medal in the Paris Paralympics and this medal has been won by Indian athlete Preeti Pal. Preeti won the bronze medal in the women’s 100 meter T35 event with a time of 14.21 seconds. With this achievement, Preeti has created history, as this is India’s first medal in a track event in para sports.

This performance of Preeti is also the personal best of her career. She completed the race in 14.21 seconds, in which China’s Jia Zhou and Qianqian Guo won gold and silver medals respectively. 23-year-old Preeti is participating in the Paralympics for the first time, and she also won a bronze medal in the women’s 200 meters T35 at the World Para Athletics Championships in May this year. Preeti will also participate in the 200 meters event at the Paris Paralympics.

Preeti won a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championships 2024 in Kobe, which gave her a chance to participate in the Paris Games. Preeti’s T35 classification is for players with coordination disorders such as hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis and cerebral palsy.

After winning the medal, Preeti expressed her happiness and said, this was my first Paralympics and I still cannot believe that I have won a medal. I feel proud that I have won India’s first track medal at the Paralympics. This Paralympics has been very special for India, because all the three medals won so far have been won by women. Earlier, Avni Lekhara and Mona Agarwal had won medals in shooting.
