India defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in the match on Sunday, September 14th. While the match itself was somewhat uneventful, the post-match events have sparked controversy. After the victory, the Indian team, including captain Suryakumar Yadav, left without shaking hands with the Pakistani players. The Indian team even closed the door to their dressing room, sending a clear message to the Pakistani team that they wouldn’t be participating in a handshake. The real dispute, however, started even earlier. The PCB alleges that Pycroft instructed the captains of both teams not to shake hands during the toss. The PCB has directly complained to the ICC about the referee, demanding his removal from the tournament. Moreover, the PCB has threatened to boycott every match in the tournament where Andy Pycroft is officiating as the referee if he is not removed.
