Ricky Ponting has addressed the spread of fake comments attributed to him on social media concerning the recent India-Pakistan cricket match. Following India’s win, the Indian team chose not to shake hands with Pakistan, sparking controversy. Fabricated quotes were shared online, misrepresenting Ponting’s views on the situation, falsely suggesting he had condemned the Indian team. Ponting has since stated unequivocally that he did not make these comments and has not offered any public remarks about the Asia Cup. The Indian captain, Suryakumar Yadav, explained that the decision was a team decision made in consultation with the Indian government. This decision drew criticism from the Pakistan Cricket Board and ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who filed a complaint with the ICC. The match took place as scheduled, and the two teams could potentially meet again later in the tournament.
