The BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) will host mandatory fitness tests today, with key Indian cricketers gearing up to participate. Rohit Sharma, India’s ODI skipper, along with Jasprit Bumrah and Test captain Shubman Gill, are scheduled to be assessed. The tests, which include the Yo-Yo test and Dexa Scans, are a crucial part of the pre-season preparations ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 and a packed international schedule. These assessments will evaluate the players’ endurance, speed, power, and bone strength. While the ‘Bronco Test’ is likely to be introduced later, the focus remains on the tried-and-tested methods to ensure players meet the physical demands of the upcoming season. These tests are designed to help the CoE staff understand the areas the players need to work on and set performance benchmarks.
