The cricketing world mourns the loss of Priyajit Ghosh, a 22-year-old cricketer from Bengal, who died from a sudden heart attack during a gym session in Bolpur, Birbhum district, on Friday morning. Ghosh had dreams of playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and representing India on a larger stage. He was a dedicated cricketer from a young age, quickly making a name for himself in the sport. His talent shone brightly in the 2019-19 inter-district Under-16 cricket tournament organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), where he was the leading run-scorer and received recognition from the CAB. Following his idol Virat Kohli, Ghosh placed a high value on fitness and regularly visited the gym. Tragically, while working out at a fitness center in Bolpur’s Mission Compound area on Friday, he suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away despite immediate efforts to save him. His sudden death has deeply affected the cricketing community, highlighting the loss of a young player with significant potential. The growing number of heart attacks among young individuals is a worrying trend that needs urgent consideration.
