Ranji Trophy 2024: Saurashtra’s big win over Vidarbha, Chiraj Jani, who took 9 wickets, gave credit to the batsmen for the victory…

Sports Desk. Saurashtra players, fulfilling the commitment of their captain Jaydev Unadkat, defeated Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at VCA Ground, Civil Lines, Nagpur on Sunday. Defeated by 238 runs. Before the match, Unadkat had said that we have come here to score 6-7 points, for which we will have to win as many sessions as possible. In this match that lasted for about 3 days and 9 sessions, Saurashtra won 8 sessions, due to which Vidarbha had to suffer its first defeat. In response to the 373 runs required to win, Vidarbha’s second innings was reduced to 134 runs.

Saurashtra fast bowler Chirag Jani took 4 wickets for 51 runs in the first innings and 5 wickets for 51 runs in the second innings. A total of 9 wickets were taken in both the innings of the match. Chirag was chosen Player of the Match (PoM) for his lethal bowling. He took 4 wickets for 14 runs in the first innings.

Let us tell you that after the match, Chirag gave credit for the victory to the batsmen. He said that our batsmen performed brilliantly on a difficult pitch for batting. Here the batsmen needed to bat aggressively instead of defensively. The presence of grass on the pitch helped the bowlers. However, many times the ball also went up and down. He said that we had more all-round options due to which we entered this match with an extra batsman. It was a pleasant feeling to dismiss Karun Nair in this match.

Team head coach Usman Ghani looked disappointed after Vidarbha’s big defeat of 238 runs. He said that our batsmen failed to bat as per the strategy. With time the wicket became good for batting but we failed to take advantage of it. He said that, on the first day of the match, in the second session, the bowlers made our comeback but they did not get the support of the batsmen. Of course, this is a disappointing result for the team but we will bounce back strongly.
