Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, is engaged to Saaniya Chandok, the granddaughter of Mumbai businessman Ravi Iqbal Ghai. The intimate engagement ceremony was attended by close family and friends, signifying a private yet momentous occasion for the two families.
Arjun, at 25, is actively pursuing his cricket career. A left-arm pacer and capable batsman, he currently plays for Goa in domestic cricket and is part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
His career began with Mumbai in the 2020/21 season, leading him to Goa, where he debuted in first-class and List A cricket. He has played 17 red-ball games, scoring 532 runs, including a century and two half-centuries, and taking 37 wickets. In the IPL, he has played five matches, securing three wickets with a best performance of 1/9.
Arjun will continue playing for Goa in the upcoming Ranji Trophy and domestic season while also participating in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians.
Saaniya Chandok, though less known to the public, is the granddaughter of Ravi Iqbal Ghai, the head of Graviss Hospitality, a prominent name in hospitality and the food industry. The Ghai family’s business history dates back to I.K. Ghai, who founded Kwality Ice Cream. Graviss Hospitality has expanded globally, with interests in the Middle East and other areas. They currently own the InterContinental hotel in Mumbai and the dessert chain Brooklyn Creamery.
Saaniya is involved with Mr. Paws Pet Spa & Store LLP, a Mumbai-based pet care start-up, as a Director and Designated Partner. She is a veterinary technician, having completed a program under WVS.
Despite the private nature of the engagement, the news has created considerable buzz within the cricket and business circles. The union of the Tendulkar and Ghai families represents the fusion of the sports and hospitality worlds. While Arjun focuses on the upcoming cricket season and Saaniya on her career, this engagement brings joy to fans of the Tendulkar family.
