Saeed Ajmal, a former player for Pakistan, has brought to light an embarrassing episode involving a bounced check issued by the then-Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani, following Pakistan’s victory in the 2009 T20 World Cup. Ajmal stated that each player received a check for 25 lakh rupees, but these checks were later dishonored due to a lack of funds. The team’s subsequent financial rewards came from the ICC. This revelation comes at a time when the current Pakistan team is under scrutiny for losing three consecutive matches to India in the Asia Cup. The 2009 T20 World Cup saw Pakistan triumph over Sri Lanka in the final, with Shahid Afridi scoring an unbeaten 54 runs.
