Shubman Gill is set to captain North Zone in the 2025 Duleep Trophy, commencing in Bangalore on August 28th. This announcement follows his outstanding performance as Test captain during the England tour. Gill’s performance in the England series, where he scored 754 runs in five matches, including four centuries, earned him recognition. This remarkable feat allowed him to surpass Sunil Gavaskar’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian captain in a five-match Test series. The Duleep Trophy will revert to its traditional zonal format this year, with state selectors choosing their respective teams.
