Jannik Sinner’s outstanding performance at the 2025 US Open continued with a victory over Denis Shapovalov, propelling him into the round of 16. The final score was 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. Despite Shapovalov breaking Sinner’s streak of consecutive hard court sets won, Sinner quickly reasserted his dominance, demonstrating his trademark control and ease of movement. This win at the US Open also represented Sinner’s 20th career victory at the tournament, setting a new record. The 24-year-old Italian has now achieved 20 wins at each of the four major Grand Slam tournaments. He is now the fourth youngest player in history to reach this milestone, joining the likes of Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker, and Novak Djokovic. Sinner’s next challenge will be against Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in the Round 16. It is worth noting that Alexander Bublik, along with Carlos Alcaraz, are the only players to have defeated Sinner since August 2024. In a prior match, the defending champion, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, secured his spot in the fourth round of the US Open 2025 after a challenging four-set victory against 27th seed Denis Shapovalov on Saturday, August 30. After a sluggish start, Jannik Sinner recovered to win 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 and extend his remarkable hardcourt major winning streak to 24 matches.
