Sohail Khan’s dedication to martial arts is evident in a small training hall in Madhya Pradesh. His focus and determination have made him a notable figure in the global martial arts scene. He is known as the ‘Golden Boy of MP.’ His achievements include a silver medal at the 2025 Senior Kudo World Cup in Bulgaria, marking a milestone for India in the sport. He is now preparing for the 4th Kudo Asian Championship.
His entry into martial arts began with various disciplines, including karate, taekwondo, wushu, and kickboxing, where he achieved national recognition. Seeking a more holistic martial art, he found Kudo, which integrated striking and grappling. The decision was also influenced by his mother, whose sacrifices inspired his persistence.
Sohail’s path was not without hardship. Training often meant sacrificing comfort and social life. These sacrifices translated into impressive results. He won the Junior Kudo World Championship in 2017. He was a quarterfinalist at the 2023 Senior Kudo World Championship. He won a bronze medal at the 2024 Euro-Asian Cup and the silver medal at the 2025 Senior Kudo World Cup. His 2025 performance included victories over opponents from Pakistan, Bulgaria, and Lithuania, leading him to the final against France.
Sohail sees Kudo as a comprehensive martial art that requires preparation in various aspects. He stresses the significance of trust in one’s training and maintaining composure under pressure. For him, true champions are forged through sacrifice and unwavering focus, even when faced with challenges.
With his sights set on the Asian Championship, Sohail is back in training. He credits Dr. Mohammad Aijaz Khan for providing guidance, discipline, and support. For Sohail, his goal extends beyond winning matches. It is about demonstrating that perseverance and dedication can bring success to any fighter, regardless of their background.
