Ranchi: Odisha defeated Mizoram 2-0 in the National Women’s Hockey League in Ranchi on Thursday. After the first quarter remained goalless, Pratibha Ekka gave Odisha the lead by scoring a field goal in the 25th minute.
Karuna Minz scored another field goal in the 52nd minute to double Odisha’s lead and ensure the victory. Nine days ago, Odisha had defeated Haryana 4-1 on the opening day of the National Women’s Hockey League tournament.
Eight teams are taking part in the prestigious National Women’s Hockey League based on their performance in the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship.
Apart from Odisha, the other participating teams are – Haryana, Maharashtra, host Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Mizoram and Manipur.
