Dominance defined day two of the India-Australia women’s day-night Test at WACA, where Annabel Sutherland’s century propelled the hosts to a 125-run first-innings lead. Australia reached 323 all out, eclipsing India’s modest 198.
From 58-3, the fightback was ignited by Perry-Sutherland’s 128-run alliance, propelling to 186. Perry’s 76 (116 balls: 10×4, 1×6) set the platform. Sutherland then linked with Mooney (19) for 54 more, before her solo brilliance shone.
The 129 off 171 balls (17×4) by Sutherland proved decisive. Hamilton (23) and King (21) contributed valuably.
Satghare’s 4-50 spearheaded India, with Sharma and Gaud (2 each), plus Rana and Verma (1 each).
India’s batting featured Rodrigues’ gritty 52 (84b, 7×4), Verma’s 35, Gautam’s 34*. Australia’s bowlers: Sutherland 4, Hamilton 3, Brown 2, Gardner 1.
This Test is India’s last shot at glory after T20I and ODI series losses. With Sutherland in form, Australia eyes a series sweep.
