Drama unfolded at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium as Pakistan’s Hussain Talat met with a shocking accident in the second ODI versus Bangladesh. The versatile all-rounder injured his left shoulder badly during a boundary-saving dive, prompting an urgent hospital visit.
The pivotal moment came in over six of Bangladesh’s reply. Litton Das cracked Mohammad Wasim’s delivery to the off-side ropes. Talat sprinted full tilt, managing to get fingertips on the ball near the boundary. But tragedy ensued—his foot snagged the foam, hurling him into the hoardings. Crashing down on his shoulder, he lay motionless briefly before help arrived.
Medical team provided instant aid, stretcher followed, and ambulance sped him away. PCB statement read: ‘Team medics assisted on pitch. Admitted for detailed imaging. Severity under review by doctors.’
Batting first, Pakistan reached 274 all out. Maz Sadakat blazed 75 in 46 balls, Salman Agha anchored with 64 (62 balls), Rizwan contributed 44 (59). Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain shone with 3/56, Mehidy Miraz grabbed 2.
Talat’s batting yielded 9 off 13. This untimely blow raises questions on field safety, with the cricket fraternity uniting in support for his recovery.
