Wasim Akram, the former captain of Pakistan, addressed the future of Babar Azam in T20I cricket. Azam, along with Mohammad Rizwan, was not included in Pakistan’s T20I squad. Both players last participated in a T20I match in December 2024 against South Africa. Akram attributed the exclusion of Babar and Rizwan to their inability to adapt their game to the evolving demands of the format. He pointed out that current players in the Pakistan team are hitting numerous sixes, at a rate of approximately nine per match, a feat that Azam and Rizwan were not consistently achieving. Despite this, Akram acknowledged Babar’s exceptional talent, while suggesting that the future of his T20I career remains uncertain. Babar Azam has scored over 4000 runs in T20I cricket.
