The cricketing world paused to reflect on the devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12th, a day that will be remembered as one of the darkest in India’s history. The crash claimed the lives of around 242 people. The aircraft had taken off from Ahmedabad Airport with its destination being London Gatwick Airport. The ongoing WTC Final 2025 at Lord’s, featuring a match between Australia and South Africa, saw a minute of silence observed to pay tribute to the victims. The opening batsmen for the third day were Australia’s Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. Both teams displayed their respect by wearing black armbands.
