  • US Presidential Polls: Donald Trump Refuses Another Presidential Debate With Kamala Harris | world news

The possibility of a second meeting between the two US Presidential candidates before election day was dashed on Thursday when former President Donald Trump announced he would not take part in another debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

He asserted that he won Tuesday’s debate with Harris despite some polls showing otherwise.

“When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH’. Polls clearly show that I won the debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she immediately called for a Second Debate,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

The former president claimed that subjects like immigration and inflation were covered “in great detail” both in Tuesday night’s discussion with Harris and in his June debate with President Biden.

Trump, in a strong attack on the Biden-Harris administration, said that they have ‘destroyed’ the country.

“She and Crooked Joe have destroyed our country, with millions of criminals and mentally deranged people pouring into the USA, totally unchecked and unvetted, and with inflation bankrupting our middle class. Everyone knows this, and all of the other problems caused by Kamala and Joe. It was discussed in great detail during the first debate with Joe, and the second debate with Comrade Harris,” the former US President said.

“She was a no-show at the Fox debate and refused to do NBC & CBS,” Trump said in his post, adding “KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”

Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are the official presidential candidates of their respective parties, after they accepted the nomination at the conventions earlier this year.

The US presidential elections are scheduled to be held on November 5 this year.

Notably, the first presidential debate was held in June between President Biden and Trump, where the former’s performance expressed concerns over his age. Following this, Biden made an exit from the race and endorsed Harris.

It is pertinent to note that Trump and Harris debated on Tuesday this week. It was their first meeting since Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee in late July, The Hill reported.

The ultimate face off between Trump and Harris took place during the presidential debate conducted by ABC News on Tuesday (local time).

  • Donald Trump Cancels ABC News Debate With Kamla Harris, Pitches One With Fox News Instead | world news

Washington, DC: Former President Donald Trump has announced that he is dropping out of ABC News debate scheduled for September 10 and instead, he has proposed an alternative debate with Vice President Kamala Harris to face off on Fox News on September 4, the New York Times reported.

Kamala Harris shared a post on

“It’s interesting how “any time, any place” becomes “one specific time, one specific safe space.” I’ll be there on September 10th, like he agreed to. I hope to see him there,” Harris said on X.

The change, which Trump announced on his social media site, Truth Social, raised objections from the Harris campaign and appeared to throw a potential showdown between the rivals into question, as per the New York Times.

It also comes as Harris has made gains in national polling and appears to present a much stronger challenge to Trump on the debate stage than President Biden, who struggled to articulate a clear message in his faltering debate performance in June. Trump and his campaign also seem to be grappling with how to run against Harris after preparing for a race against Biden.

A campaign official for Vice President Kamala Harris has responded to former President Donald Trump’s debate proposal, suggesting that his offer to debate on Fox News is an attempt to divert attention from his decision to withdraw from the previously agreed-upon ABC News debate.

Trump had agreed to that debate in May, before Biden dropped out of the race and before Biden’s calamitous performance in a CNN debate on June 27.

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out,” Michael Tyler, the communications director for the Harris campaign, said in a statement. “He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on September 10.”

Tyler said that the Harris campaign was open to discuss further debates if Trump honored his commitment to the ABC debate.

“Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th,” he said.

It’s unclear whether ABC News will attempt to go ahead with its debate, giving time only to Harris. In a post on

Trump responded on his social media platform with an ultimatum: “I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all.” According to Trump’s post on his social media site, the Fox News debate would take place on September 4 at a to-be-determined location in Pennsylvania, one of the most consequential battleground states. The network’s anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum would moderate.

Trump said on social media that the Fox News debate would have a live audience; the previous debate between him and Biden was hosted by CNN in an empty venue. Though both campaigns agreed to the format of the first debate, Trump had bemoaned the lack of a crowd.

He added that the rules would be similar to the CNN debate, though he did not specify which rules. The candidates’ microphones in the June debate were muted when it was not their turn to speak to prevent interruptions.

Trump also said that he was “totally prepared to accept” Harris as the Democrats’ new candidate. Since her campaign suddenly took shape after Biden dropped out of the race about two weeks ago, Trump has characterized her ascendancy as a “coup” within the Democratic Party. In his debate announcement, the former president complained about the shake-up.

“I spent hundreds of millions of dollars, time, and effort fighting Joe, and when I won the debate, they threw a new candidate into the ring,” Trump said on his social media site on Friday, adding that he hoped to tie Harris. to Biden’s policies.

  • Americans Do Not Trust Secret Service After Trump Assassination Attempt: What Does The Poll Reveal? , world news

New Delhi: After an assassination attempt on the former US President Donald Trump, most Americans do not trust the Secret Service’s ability to keep presidential candidates safe, reported Associated Press.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research conducted the survey after director Kimberly Cheatle resigned. Cheatle had faced tough questioning during a live broadcast of a congressional hearing last week, where she gave evasive answers.

    What The Poll Revealed?

    – A new poll reveals that only about 30% of people feel confident in the Secret Service’s ability to prevent violence against candidates before the election. Meanwhile, around 70% believe the Secret Service is at least somewhat responsible for the assassination attempt.

    – The poll showed that most Americans believe political division in the US is largely to blame for the assassination attempt. About half of US adults think this.

Roughly 40% hold the Secret Service highly responsible. Another 40% blame the easy access to guns.

    – Democrats tend to blame the availability of more guns. Republicans are more likely to hold the Secret Service accountable.

    Trump Assassination Attempt

Former President Donald Trump was shot and injured in an assassination attempt a month ago at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The incident claimed the death of a spectator and critically injured two others. Snipers took down the shooter, a 20-year-old man, after he fired eight rounds at the rally. The FBI identified the attacker as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Earlier this week, the new acting director Ronald Rowe expressed his shame over the July 13 attack in Butler, Pennsylvania. He called it indefensible that the roof used by the gunman had not been secured.

The poll of 1143 adults was conducted July 25–29, 2024, using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the US population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

  • Joe Biden Indirectly Calls Donald Trump 'Mentally Unfit' For Presidential Job world news

WASHINGTON – The big news this week, President Joe Biden said at a weekend Washington roast, was that two candidates had clinched their party's nomination for president. But one was too old, too mentally unfit for the job, he said. “The other's me,” Biden quipped.

The digs against Republican Donald Trump kept coming from the president at the annual Gridiron Club and Foundation Dinner, as Biden deflected ongoing criticism that his memory is hazy and he appears confused, instead highlighting moments when the 77-year-old Trump has slipped up, too.

“Don't tell him, he thinks he's running against Barack Obama, that's what he said,” said Biden, 81, who also quipped that he was staying up way past his bedtime.

It was the first time Biden has attended the dinner during his presidency, and comes as the 2024 election looms and the rematch between Biden and Trump heats up. The annual bacchanalia, now in its 139th year, traces its history to 1885 — that was the year President Grover Cleveland refused to attend. Every president since has come to at least one Gridiron.

Biden veered quickly into the somber, though, highlighting what he sees as a real threat to democracy should Trump — who continues to falsely claim the 2020 election was stolen — return to the White House. The speech had echoes of Biden's campaign remarks, criticizing Trump as well as too soft on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We live in an unprecedented moment in democracy,” he said. “An unprecedented moment for history. Democracy and freedom are literally under attack. Putin's on the march in Europe. My predecessor bows down to him and says to him, 'do whatever the hell you want.'”

Biden then introduced the Ukrainian ambassador, Oksana Markarova, and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.

“We will not bow down. They will not bow down, and I will not bow down,” he said.

Biden, dressed in white-tie attire as is the custom, brought his daughter Ashley.

The dinner has a reputation as a night of bipartisan mirth, and was jam-packed with politicians and who's-who of Washington, including Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, at least eight other Cabinet members, at least five members of Congress. , five governors and at least five ambassadors. Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who's in town for St. Patrick's Day, also attended.

Also speaking at the dinner were Harris, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, a Republican.

Biden closed out the dinner, speaking also about the importance of a free press. Although he may not agree with everything the news media prints, he said, he understands the necessity of journalism and said he was still working to bring home journalists Evan Gershovich and Austin Tice, one held in Russia, the other who disappeared during a reporting trip in Syria.

“Good journalism holds a mirror up to society,” he said. “We need you.”

Biden and Harris were seated at the head table along with other administration officials and the foreign leaders, plus Gridiron president Dan Balz of the Washington Post. Seated also at the table were Balz's bosses, the Post's Executive Editor Sally Buzbee and the newspaper's owner, Jeff Bezos.

  • Biden Vows To Protect Abortion Rights, Denounces Trump's America In High Stakes Speech world news

New Delhi: United States President Joe Biden will deliver his last State of the Union address on Thursday before he faces former President Donald Trump in the US election. He will use this opportunity to criticize Trump's vision for America and promise to make abortion rights the law of the land again. Biden will contrast himself with Trump, his Republican opponent in the Nov. 5 election, on the issue of abortion rights, which have been endangered by the Supreme Court's ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022. Trump was responsible for nominating three of the six conservative justices on the court.

“I promise you: if Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I will restore Roe v. “Wade as the law of the land again,” Biden will say, according to excerpts from the White House.

Biden will also address the dangers to democracy that he says Trump represents, as the former president continues to make false allegations about his 2020 election defeat and suggests locking up his political rivals.

“I have learned to cherish freedom and democracy in my lifetime. A future built on the core values that have shaped America: honesty, decency, dignity, equality,” Biden will say. “But some other people my age have a different vision: a vision of America driven by resentment, revenge, and retribution. That's not who I am.”

Trump claims he will seek vengeance on his enemies and expel millions of immigrants if he gets another term in the White House.

  • US Presidential Polls 2024: Donald Trump Wins South Carolina, Beating Nikki Haley In Her Home State | world news

In a setback for Nikki Haley, Donald Trump has won the GOP primary from South Carolina defeating Haley in her home state. Despite the loss, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said she will continue running for Republican presidential nominee. Speaking in South Carolina's Charleston, Haley said, “I'm a woman of my word,” referring to her earlier remarks about staying in the presidential race until Super Tuesday. She said, “I'm not giving up this fight when a majority of Americans disapprove of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden.”

In contrast to her post-New Hampshire primary speech, Nikki Haley delivered her remarks with a more solemn tone. She expressed skepticism about the potential success of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a rematch against US President Joe Biden, stating that “Trump drives people away.”

Acknowledging her significant defeat, Haley emphasized that “40 per cent is not some tiny group.” Despite losing four states to Trump, she pointed out that there are still numerous states where the voting process has not concluded.

While congratulating Donald Trump on his anticipated victory in the Palmetto State's GOP primary, Nikki Haley extended her gratitude to the voters for utilizing the power of their voice. She affirmed her love for the people of the state, celebrating their collective achievements and unity during challenging times and tragedies.
