    Apple iPad Mini India Launch: Apple has launched the seventh-generation iPad Mini with the new A17 Pro chip and support for Apple Intelligence globally, including in the Indian market. This much-awaited update comes three years after its predecessor, which introduced a brand-new design.

    The Apple iPad Mini now comes with the new Apple Pencil Pro featuring Hover functionality, compatible with the Mini, as well as the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air. It also includes Wi-Fi 6E and a USB Type-C port that is ‘2x faster,’ with data transfers of up to 10Gbps. It is available in three ROM variants, four colour options, and with optional Cellular support.

    Apple iPad Mini Price In India and Availability

    The device is available in two connectivity options: Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular. The 128GB model is priced at Rs. 49,900 for Wi-Fi and Rs. 64,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant.

    For the 256GB version, the Wi-Fi model costs Rs. 59,900, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular option is available for Rs. 74,900. Finally, the 512GB model is priced at Rs. 79,900 for Wi-Fi and Rs. 94,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular option.

    Consumers can order the iPad Mini from the Apple Online Store and premium retailers starting today. However, it will be available for general sales and deliveries starting Wednesday, October 23rd.

    Apple iPad Mini Specifications

    The device features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2,266 x 1,488 pixels, supporting the P3 wide colour gamut for enhanced colour accuracy and vibrancy.

    Apple promises a 10-hour battery life, similar to the previous generation. Powered by the A17 Pro chipset, the device delivers a 30% boost in CPU performance, a 25% increase in GPU performance, and a neural engine that is twice as fast.

    Adding further, it supports hardware-based ray tracing, enabling smoother visuals and the capability to run AAA games. The Apple iPad Mini also incorporates Apple Intelligence, offering advanced features like Image Playground and Writing Tools.

    These tools are designed to enhance creativity and productivity and will be available to the public with the upcoming iPadOS 18.1 update.

    Apple iPad Mini Price, Pre-Order, Availability

    Customers can pre-order the new iPad mini now while it will be available starting October 23. The the new iPad mini starts at Rs 49,900 for the Wi-Fi model, and Rs 64,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The new iPad mini starts with 128GB of storage — double the storage of the previous generation. The new iPad mini is also available in 256GB and 512GB configurations. For education, the iPad mini starts at Rs 44,900, said the company.

    Apple Pencil Pro is compatible with the new iPad mini. It is available for Rs 11,900, and Rs 10,900 for education. Apple Pencil (USB-C) is available for Rs 7,900, and Rs 6,900 for education.

    According to the company, the first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available in US English this month through a free software update with iPadOS 18.1, and available for iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later.

    A17 Pro is a powerful chip that unlocks a number of improvements over A15 Bionic in the previous-generation iPad mini. With a 6-core CPU — two performance cores and four efficiency cores — A17 Pro delivers a 30 percent boost in CPU performance, added Apple.

    Apple iOS 18.1: Apple is reportedly in the process of testing iOS 18.0.1 for iPhones and this latest version appears to be a minor update aimed primarily at resolving several bugs that have affected users since the release of iOS 18.

    According to MacRumours, among the key issues expected to be addressed in this update are touchscreen problems impacting the newly launched iPhone 16 series and some previous models.

    Adding further, users have reported a frustrating bug within iMessage where a shared Apple Watch face can cause the application to crash repeatedly. Another significant concern involves iPadOS 18, which has been known to cause certain iPad Pro units featuring the M4 chip to become non-functional.

These include models equipped with the A17 Pro chip or M1 to M4 SoCs, such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPads with the M1 chip or newer, and Macs powered by M1 or later processors.

    Apple Intelligence will initially launch in US English, with localized versions for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK arriving in December. Support for additional languages, such as Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish, will be introduced next year.

    Apple’s personalized AI system can perform many tasks, including assisting users in rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text across apps like Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party applications.

    This AI feature offers summarized notifications and prioritizes mail by detecting time-sensitive messages. It also generates summaries across the inbox.

    Users can now record, transcribe, and summarize audio directly within the Notes and Phone apps. When a call is being recorded, all participants are automatically notified. After the call ends, Apple Intelligence provides a detailed summary of the conversation.

    It offers Private Cloud Compute with remote processing, increasing privacy within an artificial intelligence ecosystem and empowering Siri with on-screen awareness, allowing it to understand and act on what’s displayed on your screen.

    With systemwide Writing Tools powered by Apple Intelligence, users can rewrite, proofread, and summarise text nearly everywhere they write.

    In Photos, the Memories feature now enables users to create the movies they want to see by simply typing a description.

    In addition, natural language can be used to search for specific photos, and search in videos gets more powerful with the ability to find specific moments in clips. The new Clean Up tool can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo — without accidentally altering the subject.

    In the Notes and Phone apps, users can record, transcribe, and summarize audio. When a recording is initiated while on a call in the Phone app, participants are automatically notified, and once the call ends, Apple Intelligence also generates a summary to help recall key points.

    Siri becomes more natural, flexible, and deeply integrated into the system experience. It has a brand-new design with an elegant glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active on iPhone, iPad, or CarPlay, said the company.

    This means that when you are in an area with no signal, your iPhone will automatically prompt you to connect to the nearest satellite directly from the Messages app. With the new Messages via satellite feature, you can send and receive texts, emojis, and even Tapbacks over both iMessage and SMS, ensuring conversations are end-to-end encrypted and keeping you safe.     This feature will probably be available on iPhone 14 or higher models later. However, Apple did not specify whether there will be a cost for Messages via satellite, though Emergency SOS via satellite remains free for iPhone 14 users for three years. Moreover, the company has stated they plan to charge for satellite service, but no pricing has been unveiled. The iPhone 15 models also come with two free years of satellite access.

    It is important to note that the introduction of Messages via Satellite feature is a part of Apple’s broader strategy to enhance the iPhone’s utility in all kinds of environments. At Apple’s WWDC 2024 event, the game mode also comes to the ‌iPhone‌ for the first time. This mode will help in minimizing background activity to keep frame rates high, plus more responsive connections to AirPods and wireless game controllers.

With this feature, they can easily ignore unnecessary calls without wasting their time.

    Notably, the tech giant Apple is branding this as a “new era” for its smart assistant Siri, which was launched 13 years ago. The Cupertino-based tech giant says that Siri will now have more richer language-understanding capabilities, making it more contextually relevant and personal. Apple Intelligence will also allow Siri to take several new actions across Apple and third-party apps.

    Enhancements to Mail

    Mail also features a new digest view that pulls together all of the relevant emails from a business, allowing users to quickly scan for what’s important in the moment. Apple said, later this year, Mail will introduce new ways for users to manage their inboxes and stay up to date. 

    Major Updates to Safari

    Safari can surface key information about a webpage. Users. for example, can review a summary to get the gist of an article; quickly see the location of a restaurant, hotel, or landmark; or listen to an artist’s track right from an article about the song or album. 

    Passwords App

    Passwords app makes it easy for users to access their passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. 

    New Privacy Features

    iOS 18 gives users even more control with tools to manage who can see their apps, how contacts are shared, and how their iPhone connects to accessories. iOS 18 puts users in control by letting them choose to share only specific contacts with an app.

    New Delhi: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has threatened to ban iPhones from all his companies over the integration of ChatGPT into iPhones and other Apple devices. 

    “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation,” Musk posted on X.

    At its World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024), Apple announced that it is going to integrate ChatGPT with Siri. Apple said that it is integrating ChatGPT access into experiences within iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access its expertise — as well as its image- and document-understanding capabilities — without needing to jump between tools.

    “Siri can tap into ChatGPT’s expertise when helpful. Users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly,” the company said.

    Also, ChatGPT will be available in Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools, which help users generate content for anything they are writing about.
